There are four possible paths you take to satisfy UCSC’s writing requirements. To determine your path, students complete DSP and your ELWR status is considered.
path #1: Writing 25 (fall quarter) > Writing 26 (winter quarter) > Writing 1E (spring quarter) > Writing 2*
path #2: Writing 26 (fall quarter) > Writing 1E (winter quarter) > Writing 2*
path #3: Writing 1 or 1E (fall or winter quarter) > Writing 2*
path #4: Writing 2*
*Writing 2 is typically not taken in the first two quarters at UCSC. It should be taken before the end of sophomore year (6th quarter), at the latest.
